The Houston Rockets have claimed forward/center Deyonta Davis off waivers, according to Shams Charania of Stadium.
Davis, 22, is 6-foot-11 and was waived by the Atlanta Hawks earlier this week.
He appeared in nine games this past season, averaging 4.0 points and 4.0 rebounds.
Davis was originally drafted with the first pick of the second round (No. 31 overall) in 2016. He spent his first two seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, then spent most of this year in the G League with the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Davis signed a multi-year deal after a couple of 10-day contracts with the Hawks. He had a non-guaranteed salary of $1.6 million for next season, which would have become partially guaranteed had he remained on the Hawks’ roster past July.
The Rockets do not own a pick in the draft this year.
