Houston Rockets star point guard Chris Paul will not play in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors because of a strained right hamstring.
Paul suffered the injury late in Game 5 and missed Game 6 at Golden State.
“I knew it was a long shot,” Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni said. “There’s just no way. He couldn’t explode. He couldn’t push off on it.”
The Rockets will now face an uphill battle in trying to knock off the reigning champions without the services of Paul.
Paul averaged 21.1 points and 5.8 assists this postseason, shooting 45.9 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from three. He will be a free-agent this summer.
