The Philadelphia 76ers agreed to trade swingman Jonathon Simmons and the No. 42 pick to the Washington Wizards for cash, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The move provides some needed salary-cap relief for the Sixers, as starters Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris and J.J. Redick are all unrestricted free agents.
Simmons, 29, just completed his third NBA season after being acquired from the Orlando Magic in February, as part of a trade involving Markelle Fultz. He averaged 6.5 points in 2.3 rebounds in 56 total games.
The Wizards landed Tennessee small forward Admiral Schofield with the 42nd selection.
