The Indiana Pacers have Tyreke Evans on the radar, and the two sides could reach an agreement soon, multiple league sources told Amico Hoops on Monday night.
Evans is a 6-foot-6 swingman who spent last season with the Memphis Grizzlies. He appeared in 52 games and averaged an underrated 19.4 points, 5.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds.
The Grizzlies sat out Evans for a long stretch prior to the trading deadline, as they were determined to move him. Evans, it was said, understood and was a good sport about it.
The Pacers are coming off a gritty first-round loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference playoffs. But LeBron James of the Cavs has moved West to the Los Angeles Lakers — and the Pacers are clearly of the mindset that the East could be had by adding a few parts to Victor Oladipo, Myles Turner and the rest.
Evans, 28, may be such a player.
Prior to his stint with the Grizzlies, Evans spent time with the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans.
