Suns GM: Overwhelming likelihood team keeps No. 1 pick

A week after saying he may be open to trading the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft, Phoenix Suns general manager Ryan McDonough now says there is an overwhelming likelihood the team keeps the pick.

McDonough told ESPN last week that the Suns’ brass hadn’t ruled out the option of dealing away the No. 1 pick for a lower pick or an All-Star caliber player with multiple years left on his contract.

McDonough, however, changed his tune Friday during pre draft workouts.

Nothing is written in stone, but the Suns are widely expected to take Deandre Ayton from Arizona with the first overall pick.

Suns new head coach Igor Kokoskov did coach Luka Dončić, so many believe Phoenix could take him as well.
