Suns’ Oubre Jr. out for rest of year with thumb injury

Suns forward Kelly Oubre Jr. has been playing particularly well since the All-Star break.

Phoenix Suns forward Kelly Oubre Jr. will miss the rest of the season following a minor surgical procedure on his left thumb, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Oubre, 23, will miss four-to-six weeks, per the report.

He is averaging a career-best 15,2 points, including 20 points and 5.7 rebounds since the All-Star break. He was obtained in a trade with the Washington Wizards in December.

Oubre enters restricted free agency in July.

“He is expected to be a priority for the Suns to retain in free agency this summer,” Wojnarowski reported. “They’ll have the right to match an offer sheet elsewhere for him.”
