The Minnesota Timberwolves will name their next head coach in the next seven-to-10 days, according to Chris Hine of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
The report states new team president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas has had extensive talks with interim coach Ryan Saunders in the past several days, though Rosas will continue to ponder his possibilities.
Hine adds the future of Timberwolves general manager Scott Layden with the team remains uncertain.
After Saunders replaced the fired Tom Thibodeau, the Timberwolves went 17-25.
Rosas’ talks with Saunders have focused on the roster, the team’s style of play and player development, according to Hine.
After being named to the position, Rosas vowed to “question the norm” for the Minnesota franchise.
Hine adds the perception across the NBA landscape was that Saunders would have the interim tag removed from his title, a thought that has not changed.
