NBA Season Preview: Brooklyn Nets

Brook Lopez has seen and experienced it all in his time with the Nets.

Camp Location: HSS Training Center, Brooklyn

Coach: Kenny Atkinson, first year as NBA coach

Last Season: 21-61, did not make playoffs.

Key Returnees: Brook Lopez, Bojan Bogdanovic, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Sean Kilpatrick, Chris McCullough.

Key Additions: Chase Budinger (Suns), Jeremy Lin (Charlotte), Randy Foye (Oklahoma City), Trevor Booker (Utah), Luis Scola (Toronto), Greivis Vasquez (Milwaukee), Isaiah Whitehead (rookie, Seton Hall), Anthony Bennett (Toronto), Joe Harris (free agent), Yogi Ferrell (rookie, Indiana University), Justin Hamilton (Spain), Caris LeVert (rookie, Michigan).

Key Losses: Thaddeus Young (Indiana), Wayne Ellington (Miami), Jarrett Jack (Atlanta), Sergey Karasev (Russia), Shane Larkin (Spain), Willie Reed (Miami), Thomas Robinson (free agent), Henry Sims (free agent), Donald Sloan (China), Markel Brown (free agent, Cleveland).

Outlook: It’s hard to envision a team getting worse after a 21-win season, but the Nets appear to have found a way. Welcome to Brooklyn, Kenny Atkinson. This team stinks. Not long ago, Brook Lopez was once surrounded with talent and excitement. Now, Brooklyn has become the city of wayward basketball souls, with even Anthony Bennett hoping to find salvation — and playing time. On the bright side, Lopez, Jeremy Lin and Luis Scola will at least scrap. But this will be another long season, likely much longer than even last.
