Camp Location: Creighton University, Omaha, Neb.
Coach: Michael Malone, three years, one year with Nuggets; 72-116 overall.
Last Season: 33-49, did not make playoffs.
Key Returnees: Kenneth Faried, Emmanuel Mudiay, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Will Barton, Darrell Arthur, Gary Harris, Nikola Jokic, Mike Miller, Jameer Nelson, Jusuf Nurkic, Jakarr Sampson, Axel Toupane.
Key Additions: Jamal Murray (rookie, Kentucky), Malik Beasley (rookie, Florida State), Juan Hernangomez (Spain), DJ Kennedy (Russia).
Key Losses: DJ Augustin (Orlando), Joffrey Lauvergne (Oklahoma City).
Outlook: Jamal Murray and Emmanuel Mudiay should form a dynamic young backcourt. And we’re pretty sure Michael Malone can coach. Other than that, the Nuggets lack the overall experience, star power and general cohesion to be considered much of a threat. There’s even a chance they could be worse than last season. But they at least seem to have a plan — which is more than you can say for some other teams that stink. As for camp itself, Malone will likely institute a plan that stresses patience, defense and trying to compete via pure teamwork.
