NBA Season Preview: Utah Jazz

Gordon Hayward and coach Quin Snyder are just two reasons the Jazz can feel good about their playoff chances.

Camp Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Coach: Quin Snyder, two seasons; 78-86 overall.

Last Season: 40-42, did not make playoffs.

Key Returnees: Gordon Hayward, Alec Burks, Derrick Favors, Rudy Gobert, Rodney Hood, Dante Exum, Joe Ingles, Chris Johnson, Trey Lyles, Shelvin Mack, Raul Neto, Jeff Withey.

Key Additions: George Hill (Indiana), Boris Diaw (San Antonio), Joe Johnson (Miami), Joel Bolomboy (rookie, Weber State), Marcus Paige (rookie, North Carolina).

Key Losses: Trevor Booker (Brooklyn), Trey Burke (Washington), Tibor Pleiss (Turkey).

Outlook: The Jazz should’ve made the playoffs last year, but the fact they failed wasn’t a major disappointment. Thanks in large part to the coaching of Quin Snyder, this is an organization with a real sense of purpose and strong culture. Gordon Hayward is a borderline All-Star. Same goes for Derrick Favors. And the backcourt is loaded with the likes of George Hill, Joe Johnson (who may have a decent year in him still), Dante Exum (recovered from a major knee injury), Alec Burks and Rodney Hood. Versatile forward Boris Diaw was a nice addition as well. So are the Jazz finally playoff-bound? Hey, it sure really feels that way.
