The Golden State Warriors have exercised the fourth-year option on center Damian Jones’ contract, the team announced in a news release.
Jones has been starting while the two-time defending champions wait for DeMarcus Cousins to make his debut following an Achilles’ tendon injury last season.
He is averaging 6.0 points on 78 percent shooting, to go with 2.4 rebounds, through the first eight games.
The Warriors drafted Jones with the No. 30 overall pick in 2017. He appeared in 33 games with the team as a rookie.
Per NBA rules ,the first two years of a first-round pick’s contract are guaranteed, while the third and fourth year of the contract are the team’s option.
