Woj: Sixers could have landed first-round pick for McConnell

Sixers point guard T.J. McConnell reportedly has been on the radar of several opposing teams.

The Philadelphia 76ers are no longer listening to trade offers for backup point guard T.J. McConnell, according to sources of Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

But the Sixers’ third-year guard, per Woj, could have netted a first-round pick in return, if the Sixers were willing to pull the trigger.

“Think about this, Woj said on the Ryen Russillo podcast, T.J. McConnell probably could have gotten … in fact, I’m very confident [McConnell] could’ve gotten Philadelphia a first round pick in the last few weeks.”

“You can get a first round pick for T.J. McConnell but [Philadelphia’s] not doing that. They need him now. They need him to play on this team. They need him to continue in that role, and so they’re not listening to offers for him right now.

“All that goes out the window with some crazy offer, but barring that, the Sixers want to keep him.”

With Markelle Fultz currently out of the lineup, and future unknown at the moment, McConnell is getting the bulk of the backup point guard minutes.

In 17 games this season, McConnell is averaging 4.1 points and 2.6 assists in 15.1 minutes per game.
