Your Ball: So, what are your first impressions of Lakers?

Rajon Rondo and the new-look Lakers fell short in their season-opener vs. the Trail Blazers.

LeBron James debuted as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, a 128-119 loss at the Portland trail Blazers.

For a fairly new (and still fairly young) team, the Lakers played well in spurts. They trailed just 101-100 before the Blazers erupted for an 18-6 run to put it away.

James finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds and six assists — showing again that, with LeBron, all is possible.

Anyway, you’ve already read my thoughts, probably more than you wanted. (If you haven’t read them, shame on you. But here’s another chance.)

Either way, it’s just one game. But you can still have a feel for what the Lakers need, why they might be good, or if a trade may be needed.

So leave your thoughts in the comments section below. I promise to hop in and join the conversation.

In the first game of the year, we played a team with well developed chemistry, a roster that turned over 11 players, and one that was a top three seed just last April. This game left me cautiously optimistic. Our roster has practiced all of a month together, and this showed in the lack of cohesion and chemistry on the court at times. A lot of the mistakes we made during the game are fixable errors, like late rotations, turnovers, and high amounts of fouls. I also highly doubt we’re going to shoot like we did from 3 last night for the rest of the year. All things considered, most of what went wrong was fixable, and it’s just the first game of the year. When we played well, we looked scary, and when things went wrong, we looked like chickens with our heads cut off. It’s going to take time to gel, but I think everything will be all right.
