The immediate move to Ben Godfrey Everton is a testament to the 22-year-old and the Norwich City team – they raised him to be the one to command club registration fees for outgoing players.

The general consensus on social media from City, Everton and York City supporters seems to be positive – despite the persistent relocation situation in the background, many Canary supporters quickly hailed the UK Under-21 international approach.

The City accepted an effort of more than 25 million m for the defender, with add-ons that could further raise that price.

Godfrey signed for the Canaries in January 2016 and has made 78 appearances for the club in all competitions. Credit letters to York City and Shrewsbury Town have aided his development.

He is set to join Champions League-winning coach Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park – and he leaves with congratulations from city fans.
