Hospital closed after “two serious accidents” in Kilmarnock |  UK News

A hospital in Kilmarnock where police are dealing with a “serious accident” at the site and another on a downtown street, has been closed.

Ayrshire Police said one of the incidents was at Crosshouse Hospital, while the second accident happened on Portland Street.

“These areas are cordoned off and the public should avoid them for the time being,” the officers said on Twitter.

Crawford McGovey, Medical Director at NHS Ayrshire and Arran, said in a statement:

“NHS Ayrshire and Arran are aware of an accident that occurred on the grounds of Cross House University Hospital.

As a result, the hospital was closed and ambulances were diverted to Ir University Hospital.

“We are assisting the Scottish Police in their investigations, and to ensure the safety of staff, patients and visitors.

“Since this is an incident of the Scottish Police, we cannot comment further at this time.”
