Former No. 2 overall draft pick Hasheem Thabeet has signed a contract to play in the G League, according to Shams Charania of Stadium.
As reported by Amico Hoops’ Ben Stinar, Thabeet has recently taken part in workouts for the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors.
Thabeet, 32, is 7-foot-3 and was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies with the No. 2 overall pick in 2009. He has also spent time with the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers, and last played in the NBA with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2013-14.
“Thabeet spent this past year transforming his body and he has heard from multiple NBA teams that he is in great shape,” Stinar recently reported.
Thabeet carries NBA career averages of 2.2 points and 2.7 rebounds. He has also played professionally in Japan and in the G League with the Grand Rapids Drive, the Detroit Pistons’ affiliate.
Thabeet has had multiple workouts with both the New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks recently.
