Free agent point guard Jackson signs with Lakers

Veteran point guard Demetrius Jackson spent part of last season with the 76ers.

The Los Angeles Lakers have signed point guard Demetrius Jackson, the team announced in a news release.

The contract is an Exhibit 10 deal, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

Jackson, 24, is 6-foot-2 and has served stints with the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Houston Rockets. He was selected out of Notre Dame in the second round (No. 45) of the 2016 draft.

He has also spent time with the Maine Red Claws, Delaware Blue Coats and Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the G League.

Jackson has appeared in a total of 26 NBA games.

Exhibit 10 contracts are minimally guaranteed contracts for training camp that generally give the team the player’s rights for their G League affiliate.

The Lakers’ point guard rotation currently consists of Rajon Rondo, Quinn Cook and Alex Caruso, meaning Jackson is likely headed to the G-League’s South Bay Lakers following training camp.
