The Atlanta Hawks waived power forward Ray Spalding, the team announced in a news release.
Spalding is 6-foot-10 and signed a training camp contract with the Hawks on July 31. He is likely a strong candidate to join their G League franchise, the College Park (Ga.) Skyhawks.
He was selected with the No. 56 overall pick in the 2018 draft and appeared in one game with the Dallas Mavericks and 13 with the Phoenix Suns as a rookie last season.
Spalding missed the Hawks’ preseason-opening loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday with a strained calf.
