Jesus Vazquez describes the words of Claude Joseph, Haiti’s foreign minister, as “reckless and misleading”
The Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesus Vasquez, described the statements of the Haitian Foreign Minister, Claude Joseph, and his views on the situation in the Dominican Republic as “reckless and misleading”.
Claude Joseph confirmed, on Monday afternoon, on his Twitter account, that the Dominican Republic is experiencing an “increase in crime”, which has infuriated various leaders for not thanking them for the help they receive from the Dominicans.
This came in response to a tweet by the Dominican president urging the international community to act to stop the social and political crisis that Haitians are going through.
In his social networks, Jesus Vazquez said that in “the Dominican Republic there is a situation completely different from that of the neighboring country” and highlighted that “the Dominican government has been the most supportive of the Haitian crisis”.
Abel Martinez, the mayor of Santiago, also demonstrated his stance in the face of the foreign minister’s tweet, stressing that the Dominican government has always been in solidarity with Haiti, and stressing that it was time for the neighboring country to “look for other solutions.”
As a result of recent events, the President of the Republic, Luis Abenader, has called on all Dominicans not to visit Haiti due to the insecurity they are experiencing.
The statements of the Foreign Minister of Haiti, Claude Joseph, are reckless and misleading, because the Dominican reality is very different from the reality of the neighboring country. In addition, the Dominican government has been the most supportive when it comes to cooperating with the Haiti crisis.Tweet embed #Haiti
