Kawhi Leonard (knee), off for match 1; Doubt for the series
Phoenix – Los Angeles Clippers All Star, Kohi Leonard, was disqualified with a right knee sprain in Sunday’s first game against the Phoenix Suns, and his status in the remainder of the Western Conference Finals remains uncertain.
Leonard did not travel with the team to Phoenix on Saturday. While coach Ty Lue said he is still unsure of Leonard’s placement in Game 2 and whether the striker could rejoin the squad, the coach admitted he has to prepare as if Leonard wasn’t available every game until he returns.
“I’m not sure,” he told me when asked if Leonard could join the team at some point in the series. “and I know that [está fuera para el] Game 1 for sure. Now he’s back home for treatment. We’re not sure about Game 2 yet.”
Leonard has missed the last two games since injuring his knee in the final quarter of Game 4 against the Utah Jazz. Leonard couldn’t finish the last four minutes of that match.
Terrence Man, who started in place of Leonard, scored 39 points in Game 6 to eliminate Utah.
“Until he comes back, we can’t, you know, assume if he’ll come back and in what matches,” Lu said. “We have to prepare like he’s not going to play. Just go from there.”
