Lakers have Jazz veteran forward Favors on radar

Veteran power forward Derrick Favors has spent all but one season with the Jazz.

The Los Angeles Lakers may have Utah Jazz power forward Derrick Favors on their radar as a potential acquisition this offseason, according to Sean Deveney of Sporting News.

The Lakers’ priority will be to land a star to pair with LeBron James, but have their eye on several others who may fill a role or as fallback options. Favors seemingly is among them.

Favors is 6-foot-10 and the Jazz have a $16.9 team option on his contract for next season. If they opt not to pick it up (a decision must be made by July 6), Favors would become an unrestricted free agent.

Favors, 27, spent his rookie season of 2010-11 with the Brooklyn Nets, but has been with the Jazz every season since then. He averaged 11.8 points and 7.4 rebounds in 70 games last season.

  1. No brainerJazz pick it up. Expiring trade chip too right? Why let that type of asset walk for nothing.
