Free agent center Koufos signs with CSKA Moscow

Free agent center Kosta Koufos has drawn interest from several Eastern Conference teams.

Free agent center Kosta Koufos has agreed to a two-year contract with Russian club CSKA Moscow, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

The deal is reportedly worth $6 million, making Koufos perhaps the highest-paid American in Europe next season (depending on future deals). His contract includes an NBA “out” after the first year.

He had drawn interest from the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons this summer before deciding on CSKA Moscow’s offer. He is represented by agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.

Koufos, 30, averaged 3.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in 41 games with the Sacramento Kings last season. He has spent the past four years with the Kings.

Before that, he spent time with the Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies, Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Koufos played his high school ball at Canton GlenOak, where he was a teammate of current Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum.
