Free agent point guard Canaan signs with Shandog of China

Former Suns point guard Isaiah Canaan is headed to the Chinese Basketball Association.

Free agent guard Isaiah Canaan has agreed to a contract with the Shandog Golden Stars of the China, as relayed by Emiliano Carchia of Sportando.

Canaan, 28, has spent six seasons in the NBA and appeared in a total of 30 games last year with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks.

He has also spent time with the Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers.

Before Ja Morant was drafted with the No. overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in June, Canaan held the distinction of being the highest-drafted active player out of Murray State (N0. 34, Rockets, 2013).

He joins a long list of NBA free agents who have signed in the Chinese Basketball Association. Others include Lance Stephenson, Ian ClarkJerian GrantJerryd BaylessEkpe Udoh and Donatas Motiejunas.
