The Phoenix Suns intend to work out free agent small forward Haywood Highsmith this week, a source told Ben Stinar of Amico Hoops.
Highsmith is 6-foot-7 and went undrafted out of Division II Wheeling (W.Va.) Jesuit in 2018. He spent last season on a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, playing primarily for the Delaware Blue Coats of the G League.
He appeared in five games with the 76ers and is on AmicoHoops’ list of notable remaining free agents. As for the G League, Highsmith averaged 12.2 points and 6.9 rebounds in 46 games.
The 76ers then waived him in June.
Highsmith also worked out for the Milwaukee Bucks last month, Stinar reported.
Kelly Oubre Jr. and rookie Cameron Johnson are the Suns’ small forwards currently under guaranteed contract. Phoenix worked out forward Ben Moore last week, but he has opted to sign overseas.
