Palestinian terrorists killed an Israeli civilian and wounded another in a shooting attack on a highway in the northern West Bank. The dead man was Yonatan Deutsch, 23, from Beit She'an, and the wounded man was Anas Jaramana, 32, from Meqebel. Israeli forces launched an operation to find the attackers. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.

Axios reported that the Israelis believe that Iran has finally decided that it will launch an attack and that it could happen in the coming days. According to sources cited by the media, the attack could happen even before August 15, the scheduled date for negotiations on a possible agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Amid new reports that an Iranian attack is imminent, IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari clarified that there are no changes to the security instructions for the Israeli population at this time. Hagari said that the IDF is constantly monitoring developments in the Middle East and is fully prepared for any scenario.

Channel 12 reported that negotiators could reach an agreement between Israel and Hamas next Thursday in talks scheduled for that day, given the apparent progress that has been made. Despite the optimism of Israeli officials, Hamas said today that it refuses to enter another round of negotiations.

During a visit to the Israeli army recruits, Defense Minister Yoav Galant stressed that Israel will act in an unprecedented manner if Hezbollah and Iran launch an attack against it. Galant stated that Israel has great capabilities and its enemies must take that into consideration.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has agreed to have the prime minister appoint the next civil service commissioner directly, rather than having it be a committee tasked with the job. The decision contradicts the attorney general’s position, which refuses to allow the appointment of the official without a collective body’s evaluation. During the weekly cabinet meeting in which the decision was made, the justice minister called for renewed efforts to advance judicial reform.

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir opposed continuing negotiations to reach an agreement with Hamas. The official stressed that the agreement would represent Israel’s surrender to Hamas and that implementing it would be a grave mistake for Netanyahu.
