The US Embassy in Minsk asked its citizens to leave this country “immediately” after the closure of two border crossings between Belarus and Lithuania, according to a statement posted on the website of the Diplomatic Commission.

“American citizens in Belarus must leave immediately,” the memo said.

Washington reminds that the Lithuanian government recently closed two border crossings with Belarus, leaving only four other points open.

Meanwhile, “the governments of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia have announced that it is possible to close more border crossings with Belarus,” she warned.

That is why he called on Americans to consider leaving Belarus through open border crossings with Latvia and Lithuania “or by plane.”

“US citizens are not allowed to enter Poland by land from Belarus. The note added: “Do not travel to Russia or Ukraine.”

UNHCR highlights that its current ability to provide assistance to Americans traveling to or residing in Belarus is “limited”.

Last week, Vilnius announced the closure of two border crossings with Belarus in response to the presence of mercenaries from the Wagner Group in the neighboring country.

According to Lithuanian media, this measure could be the first step towards a complete closure of the border with Belarus.
