Thunder sign free agent center, former first-round pick Patton

Free agent center Justin Patton is headed to the Thunder.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed free agent center Justin Patton, general manager Sam Presti announced in a news release.

Patton is 7-foot-0 and was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the 2017 draft. He was immediately traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves on draft night.

Patton’s early career has been beset by injuries, as has appeared in just four career NBA games with the Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers. He has also appeared in 49 G-League games, averaging 11.8 points and 5.4 rebounds.

Patton was named Big East Freshman of the Year in his one season at Creighton.

The Thunder currently have Steven Adams, Nerlens Noel and Patton at center.
