Timberwolves acquire sixth overall pick from Suns

Timberwolves forward Dario Saric is headed to the Suns in a deal that involves a swap of draft picks.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have acquired the No. 6 overall pick from the Phoenix Suns for the No. 11 pick and forward Dario Saric, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

According to Wojnarowski, new Timberwolves president of basketball operations Gerrson Rosas had been trying to trade up to the fourth or fifth pick, and eventually settled for sixth. The Timberwolves are among the teams that supposedly have Vanderbilt point guard Darius Garland on the radar.

The Cleveland Cavaliers own the fifth overall pick, however, and may be intrigued enough with Garland to select him despite already having second-year man Collin Sexton on the roster.

Saric averaged 10.6 points and 5.6 rebounds this past season, after being traded from the Philadelphia 76ers in the Jimmy Butler deal in November.
