LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
Camp Location: UC Irvine
Coach: Doc Rivers, 17 years, three with Clippers; 753-553 overall.
Last Season: 53-29, lost to Portland in first round of playoffs.
Key Returnees: Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, JJ Redick, Jamal Crawford, Wesley Johnson, Paul Pierce, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Austin Rivers.
Key Additions: Marreese Speights (Golden State), Raymond Felton (Dallas), Brice Johnson (rookie, North Carolina), Brandon Bass (LA Lakers), Alan Anderson (Washington), Diamond Stone (rookie, Maryland).
Key Losses: Jeff Green (Orlando), Pablo Prigioni (Houston), CJ Wilcox (Orland), Cole Aldrich (Minnesota), Branden Dawson (Orlando), Jeff Ayres (free agent).
Outlook: The game is about more than alley-oops and Lob City. The question is, will Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and the rest ever become known for more than that? Doc Rivers is running the team and is one of basketball’s most respected coaches and all-around men. But this team, as constructed, is just about out of time. The Clippers were thinking championship in the Paul-Griffin era, and they haven’t really come close. This training camp will be about trying to pull it all together. The talent is there. The coaching is there. The rest is up to the Clippers.
