San Juan – Walter Hodge will launch the next season of the National Basketball Association (BSN) sooner than expected.
The Arecibo captains announced tonight that the star point guard reported Tuesday, by surprise to Manuel “Pitaca” Iguana Reyes Coliseum.
According to the publication, those present were “stunned” to see Hodge in court.
“There were several factors to being here. There were problems with late payments and I had the opportunity to get out of the contract after certain days without paying myself, I made the decision to leave and you see, here I am,” said the current league’s best player on his debut.
Likewise, the basketball player confirmed that one of the reasons for his decision was his lack of family.
“It was my decision. I’ve been gone for six months now, and I think it’s time to come back. I wanted to see the children and the children’s birthdays and I wanted to take this stage with them and enjoy it.”
However, Hodge confirmed that, at the moment, he does not know if he will play in the first game of the season for the Capetnes, which they will visit the Leones de Ponce on Thursday, at the Juan Pachín Vicens Hall.
“I’m coming on now; I want my body to get used to it. They’re six hours apart. No rush. I’d love to be in Ponce’s match but I don’t know yet.”
Hours before Hodge was reported to have informed the team, Capitanes de Arecibo general manager Ángel Edgardo García confirmed, speaker that it was “very likely” that the star would join sooner than management expected.
“It’s very possible (Walter Hodge will be back sooner than expected), García said in an interview. We’re working on different issues… We’ve been involved in different conversations, so we’ll see how this all matures.” with this newspaper.
However, the general manager made it clear that, at the moment, he “didn’t have an estimated time” when Hodge would return to the leaders.
Originally, the franchise expected Al-Qaeda to join the team in late May or early June.
Hodge was competing in the Egyptian Professional League with Al-Ahly Club, a club that qualified for the African League, whose season ends on May 27.
