The Golden State Warriors have acquired the No. 41 overall pick in Thursday’s draft from the Atlanta Hawks for a 2024 second-round pick, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
This is the second time in two days the Hawks have traded a second-rounder, with the Hawks trading the 44th overall pick (for another 2024 second-rounder) on Wednesday.
The Hawks now own the Nos. 8, 10, 17 and 35 draft picks this year; the Warriors have won first-rounder (No. 28) and now two second-rounders (Nos. 41 and 58).
Several sources said the Warriors are fans of St. John’s point guard Shamorie Ponds, who they worked out immediately after the season. Ponds is projected to be drafted in the Nos. 35-45 range.
The Warriors also sent $1.3 million to the Hawks, Wojnarowski reported.
The NBA Draft is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. EST.
