The Golden State Warriors have signed rookie center Kavion Pippen, the team announced in a news release.
Pippen, 22, is 6-foot-10 and went undrafted out of Southern Illinois in June after his senior season. He averaged 12.4 points and 5.8 rebounds in 65 career games with the Salukis, blocking 1.7 shots per game.
Je likely was signed to an Exhibit 10 contact, potentially guaranteeing him some money should he stick with the organization or G League franchise for a set number of games.
In order to make room for Pippen, the Warriors waived swignman Devyn Marble, signed on Sept. 30.
Marble, 27, played eight minutes in the Warriors’ preseason-opening loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday. He has also spent time with the Orlando Magic (2004-16), averaging 2.2 points in 44 career games.
The Warriors worked out center and former lottery pick Hasheem Thabeet last week, a source told Amico Hoops’ Ben Stinar.
