Wizards’ Brooks: No timetable for Howard’s return

Dwight Howard is entering his first season with the Wizards after spending last year with the Hornets.

The Washington Wizards aren’t sure how long it will take new center Dwight Howard to return from a back injury, coach Scott Brooks told reporters.

Howard suffered the injury while training in the summer. Howard, 32, signed a two-year, $11-million deal with the Wizards in July. He spent last season with the Charlotte Hornets, who traded him to the Brooklyn Nets after the season. The Nets bought out his contract.

Howard averaged 16.6 points and 12.5 rebounds in 81 games last year. He has been ruled out for the preseason.
