More than 4 thousand students from Peru participated in creative projects in the field of science and technology in the competition Samsung – Samsung Newsroom Peru

Solutions for the Future, an initiative from Samsung Electronics, has been able to call 4,621 students from across Peru to participate in projects that seek to improve a problem in their environment using science.
Among the 1,316 projects submitted, Samsung today announced 15 semi-finalists.

Today, the eighth edition of the Future Solutions Competition, organized by Samsung, announced 15 semi-finalists. The initiative seeks to encourage secondary school teachers and students to seek STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) solutions to problems facing their communities in order to contribute to a better quality of life in the area in which they live.

Due to the current situation, the competition was held almost for the second time, as it was able to summon 5,343 participants from public schools, including teachers (722) and high school students (4,621). It should be noted that of the 4,621 students who participated in this course, more than half of them were women.

“The advocacy for this edition has been really successful, we have been able to get 1,316 projects from public schools across the country, surpassing 1,135 requests from the previous edition. At Samsung, we are committed to continuing to advance the STEM methodology so that new generations are the champions of change, and contribute to the their communities, and therefore the state.” Cecilia Bicoaga, Director of Corporate Citizenship, Samsung Peru noted.

How do future solutions work?

The Samsung program, which is currently present in more than 50 countries, has various stages. At the initial stage, the registration process is carried out, which is completely free and invites teachers and students between the third and fifth year of secondary school, from public educational institutions, to form teams of 1 teacher and 3 to 5 students. If the institution is a co-educational institution, at least one student must participate in the team, to develop a project that proposes an innovative solution to a problem facing her community and applies the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) curriculum.

After that, all registered projects go through an evaluation process that is responsible for a specialized jury. In this way, after a careful evaluation, today we have 15 schools that have reached the semi-finals of the 8th edition of Future Solutions. The educational institutions that reached the semi-finals belong to the regions of Lima, Junin, Huancavelica, Amazonas, Puno, Apurimac, Lambayeque and the constitutional province of Callao:

  • The “RIAHU” project of the IE 40096 Arequipa
  • The project “BIOCHUA – as a plastic alternative” for the emblematic educational institution GUE José Antonio Encinas Juliaca in the region of Puno
  • Project “SOFÍ”, from the Sagrada Familia Parkinsonia Educational Foundation, from the district of Piura
  • The “BIOZONO- Curando the water of the Rio de San Mateo” project, of the San Mateo de Huanchor Educational Institution, in the Huarochiri District
  • Project “Technological Determinant of Warehouse Outbreak” of the DIEGO FERRE Educational Institution in the Lambayeque region
  • The project “ECOBIOR – Finding Alternative Solutions” of the educational institution COAR LIMA in the region of Lima
  • Project “FAMS” of the educational institution Sagrado Corazón de Jesús 6059, in the region of Lima
  • The “FILTRO-RADIACION” project of the COAR PUNO educational institution in Puno
  • The project “We generate light using photosynthesis”, from the educational institution 10149 Elmer Cortez Serquén, from the region of Lambayeque
  • The project “AGROTEC TOOLS – We take care of your health”, of the educational institution COAR Puno, in the Puno region
  • The project “La Victoria towards automated classroom” of the Juan Pablo Vizcardo y Guzmán educational institution in the Lambayeque region
  • The “NTI AKCHIWAN WASI CHAKRAPI SUMAQSICAN” project, of the educational institution Micaela Bastidas N ° 151, in the Junín region
  • Project “THERMAL BOX”, from the Señor de Atoccasa Educational Foundation, in the Huancavelica District
  • The TURPAY-1 project of the Ernesto Villanueva Muñoz Foundation in the Amazon region
  • The “WAYRA – Taming the Wind” project of the Luis Alberto Sánchez educational institution in the Apurímac region

In the coming weeks, the jury will evaluate the 15 semi-finalists to select the 05 schools that made it to the final stage. The teams that reached the Grand Final of the competition will be published on the website www.solucionesparaelfuturo.coNS With the aim of enabling the public to vote for their favourite.
