    BCL Americas announces season 3 entrants

    MIAMI (USA) – The BCL Americas Board (BCLA) has identified and approved key decisions for the third BCLA season.

    Considering the current situation due to the COVID pandemic, particularly in South America, The BCLA Board of Directors has decided that the competition will be held in the form of a bubble and each of the twelve (12) teams will have the opportunity to host one in the group stage. In addition, the Board has also changed the original start of Season 3, from October 2021 to December 2021. The League will run for a period of five (5) months, with the eighth final scheduled for April 2022.

    Seven (7) countries from the Americas will be represented by 12 teams: Quimsa, Boca Jrs and Obras de Argentina. Sao Paulo, Minas, defending champion Flamengo of Brazil; Begua and Nacional from Uruguay; UdeC Chile; cangrigyros from Puerto Rico; The runner-up of the second season, Real Esteli Nicaragua. and Edmonton Stingers from Canada.

    The third season will consist of 36 matches during the group stage and 8 more matches in the Final 8, for a total of 44 matches. The eighth final is played by knockout of the quarter-finals and semi-finals, with the winners advancing to the championship match while the losers play for third place. The clubs will be divided into 4 groups of 3, with the best two teams from each group advancing to the Final 8. In the first week of October, the official draw will be held to determine the group stage and full schedule for Season Three. The date and time of the draw will be announced in the next few days.

    The BCL Americas Champion will earn a spot in the 2023 FIBA ​​Intercontinental Cup. CR Flamengo, BCLA Champion in Season Two (2021), will play the FIBA ​​Intercontinental Cup 2022.
