Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States.

Hernán Darío “Polillo” Gomez is already planning to prepare for the Honduran national team for next year and has already made the first friendly match to be played in January.

Honduras will face Colombia on January 16, 2022 at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States. The match will take place on Sunday and there is no confirmed time yet.

The Colombian Football Association announced the news in a statement. “The Colombian Football Federation has announced that the Colombia Senior Men’s National Team will play a friendly match against Honduras, on January 16, 2022 in Fort Lauderdale, USA.”

The Colombian team is managed by Reinaldo Rueda, who made history with Honduras by qualifying for the World Cup in South Africa 2010, after waiting 28 years.

The text concluded by saying: “This meeting will be a preparation for the qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 which will be played by the Colombian national team between the last week of January and the first of February against Peru and Argentina.”

Honduras was practically eliminated eight days after facing CONCACAF from the Qatar 2022 World Cup by finishing last in the standings with just three points out of a possible 24.

For its part, Colombia occupies fourth place in the CONMEBOL rankings with 17 points, among the places that give a direct ticket to the World Cup.
