NBA fines Anthony Edwards $50,000

The NBA has announced a $50,000 fine for Anthony Edwards. A Timberwolves player was penalized for “recklessly hitting a chair in frustration and colliding with two assistants,” which he did as he left the Ball Arena. Said’s incident occurred after Game 5 of the first round of the playoffs, which resulted in a 112-109 defeat by Minnesota which meant the team’s elimination from the playoffs.

The most surprising thing about this punishment is its delay, since the aforementioned match was played on April 25, more than three months ago. In this sense the League makes it clear that, as specified in the collective agreement, its involvement in the matter had to wait until the conclusion of the criminal investigation into the player’s conduct, with the result that all charges were dropped.

Edwards is currently in the spotlight for the USA team, which has traveled to Malaga to play two friendlies to prepare for the World Cup. They will measure in both Slovenia and Spain, thus testing themselves against two teams that arrive wanting to make a splash in the international tournament.
