New interventions to improve public space in Gava Mar

A comprehensive redesign of Calle de Palafrugell has begun to improve accessibility and pine forest conservation

Works began this week that will transform Palafrugell Street into a more sustainable and accessible road. After this point, this intervention includes the resumption of the Gava Mar public space management plan. It is a plan that in 2019 gave the go-ahead with the reform of Carrer de Llançà, along with the final section of Avinguda de Europa and from Arenys Avenue, which became single-platform roads, with pedestrians and vehicles sharing space. Quiet and residential streets, which give continuity to the natural pine forests of the private plots.

During the construction visit, Mayor Gemma Badia highlighted the importance of this intervention: “After a delay due to technical reasons, we were finally able to begin redesigning Palafrugell Street. Before the start of the school year, given that the works will last four months, Badia asked the patience of the parents of Things and teachers, i.e. those people who will be able to reach on a daily basis who will have to take an alternate route to get there.. But this is a very necessary work in order to reach and to solve the uplift of the street caused by tree roots.”

With an investment of €292.566.88, the performance was in c. Palafrugell will follow the same standards in terms of public space quality, accessibility, energy-efficiency lighting improvement and underground services, although it will have a privileged treatment. The street will maintain the normal section: a separate road and a sidewalk at different levels, sidewalks on both sides with a width of 2 meters, one row of parking.
