Joe Kelly He gave the number 17 Shohei Ohtani With the Dodgers, the Japanese superstar helped out by giving the reliever the keys to a new Porsche.
Kelly's wife – Ashley – did her part to “recruit” Ohtani to the Dodgers. Their incredible #Ohtake17 campaignHe posted a post on Instagram in which he shared a video of him opening the door of his house.
“This is yours, Ohtani's,” said someone at the door. “He wanted to give her a porch.”
When Ohtani signed with the Dodgers and it became clear that Kelly would be giving him the number 17 he had worn for the previous three seasons, Ashley Kelly was delighted by the news. He posted another video in which he threw several Kelly jerseys with the number 17 in front of the family home.
When Kelly was asked about giving up 17 to Ohtani, the pitcher gave the perfect answer.
“I'm not going to give it to anybody,” Kelly said. “If Shohei continues to perform, he will be a Hall of Famer and I will have my number retired.
