“Minari” star Yeh Jong-yeon becomes the first Korean actress to win Best Supporting Actress

Yeoh Jong Yun won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in “Minari” and became the first Korean actress to win in that category.

During his speech, Yoon talked about how he would look at the Oscars at his home in South Korea, and that attending the ceremony was a surreal experience.

Being here alone, I can’t believe I’m here … Let me recover. “Thanks to the academy,” he said.

The Minari movie is about a South Korean family who moved to Arkansas to start a new life. It ended up being more challenging than expected, so their grandmother, played by Yoon, comes to live with them.

The film, along with “Yoon,” garnered critical acclaim throughout the awards season, and Yoon won the Screen Actors Guild Award and BAFTA before winning the Oscar on Sunday.

At the end of his speech, Yoon said, “I don’t believe in competition” and said that he had been a long-time fan of Glenn Close, who was also nominated in this category.

The movie “Minary” was also nominated for Best Picture.
