The boys started! The national team conducted its first training session
the Men's national basketball team The Puerto Rican Basketball Federation said in a statement that the player conducted his first training session on Tuesday morning, as part of his preparations in search of a qualification ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The Olympic Repeater will be held July 2-7 at Puerto Rico Stadium. It will be one of three Olympic qualifying tournaments that FIBA will hold on the same date in which they will compete for one ticket each to the basketball tournament in Paris.
The federation added in the statement that in addition to the training that took place at the Rubén Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon this morning, the team conducted a physical training session this afternoon at the LEAF Fitness Hall in Condado.
Tremont Waters, George Condit, Gian Clavell, Isaiah Pineiro, Ismael Romero, Stephen Thompson, Jordan Howard, Arnaldo Toro, Aleem Ford and Davon Reed, They were among those present at the training held at the Rubén Rodriguez Amphitheater in Bayamon.
Star point guard Jose Alvarado The federation added that he will arrive in Puerto Rico tomorrow, Wednesday afternoon, and will join training the next day.
The team, led by Nelson Colon, is seeking a historic Olympic qualification in front of its home fans in a tournament that will welcome delegations from Italy, Mexico, Lithuania, Ivory Coast and Bahrain. The national team last saw the Olympics at the 2004 Athens edition and qualified for the event at the Las Americas Pre-Olympic Tournament at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan in 2003.
In Repechage, only the winner of the event gets their ticket to the Olympics.
The women's 5×5 basketball team has already qualified for Paris 2024. They will be going to their second Olympic Games in a row.
