This afternoon, the Public Prosecutor’s Office (FGR) raided the offices of Corporación ARGOZ SA de CV, to strengthen investigations, after reporting some violations committed by the subsidiary against people to whom it sold plots of land. Without being registered in their names.
The raid was also verified by Attorney General Rodolfo Delgado and Housing Minister Michelle Saul.
Likewise, the Public Prosecutor’s Office raided the home of its main leaders, leading to the arrest of Leticia Farfán and Rodrigo Javier Gómez Farfán, “leaders of the fraud carried out by several Salvadoran families,” the foundation charged.
“The accused lived in luxury residences in exclusive areas of El Salvador, places where searches were also conducted, and they were able to seize $37,919.73 in cash and five vehicles,” FGR explained.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the ARGOZ company is dedicated to selling real estate in rural areas of the country, without being the owners and, therefore, without obtaining legal permits for the manufacture of parcels.
FGR adds that the division company offered properties at reasonable prices ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, with payment facilities, and concluded promise-of-sale contracts in the name of other companies to which the victims paid very low fees.
But once the payments were completed, the buyers tried to register them with the CNR, and that is when they realized that the lands were not registered as ARGOZ property and were therefore unable to take necessary action.
