Andrei Skoch’s charitable activity and lawmaking
Born in the village of Nikolskoye, Moscow region, Andrei Skoch has been working in the Russian parliament on the development of the country’s science and technology for more than two decades. During this time, with the help of Andrei Skoch, more than 150 draft laws and amendments to federal laws were developed and proposed.
The working directions of the “Generation” foundation
The “Generation” fund was established by Andrei Vladimirovich Skoch in 1996, primarily it was aimed at helping children suffering from serious diseases, such as congenital heart defects. The history of the fund’s creation was connected with a hard life tragedy of Andrei Skoch – the death of his son in childbirth due to a heart disease.
When the fund created by Andrei Skoch found new sources of financing, it began to expand and support not only children, but also social initiatives — so it started to develop culture and sports in the country. After that the fund gained its capacious name – the “Generation”, and to this day, it remains unchanged.
Focusing on a variety of social issues and problems, the fund continued to pay attention to medicine. In 2008, under the patronage of Andrei Vladimirovich Skoch, the construction of a medical center bearing the fund’s name began in Belgorod. According to the idea, the institution was to become one of the most progressive in the region, and modern medical equipment was purchased for it. The opening of the “Generation” center took place in 2010. Andrei Vladimirovich Skoch came to Belgorod specially for this solemn event. The center retains the status of the most equipped medical center in the region to this day.
Activities of the “New Generation” youth movement
The “New Generation”, an initiative created by Andrei Skoch, is mainly engaged in the education and support of the young people from the Belgorod region. The activities of the youth organization are diverse: seminars, classes, training and festivals are being held. Also, within the framework of the movement, educational programs for students were created. The “New Generation” presented 300 cars to the police officers of the district centers of Belgorod for their conscientious service. Another 300 cars were received by war veterans, and more than 200 entered the fleets of medical and educational institutions. Andrei Vladimirovich Skoch considers the New Generation Fund as one of his most important initiatives — in his opinion, it is extremely important that young people can rely on those who are ready to answer any questions and provide support.
Also, the youth movement “New Generation” actively helps those who find themselves in a difficult life situation. The organization’s activities extend to rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, orphanages.
Encouraging the best and helping those in need
Another area of activity of the “Generation” is the support of aspiring young writers. In 2000, the Fund established a special award “Debut”, which authors under the age of 25 could receive. Later, the age limit was increased to 35 years. Largely, thanks to this initiative, Andrei Skoch was recognized as the “Generous patron of the arts” six years later.
The Fund’s sponsorship also goes to the most effective medical centers and military search teams, and supports developments and achievements in the fight against cardiovascular diseases.
Since 2002, talented and creative students have been receiving monthly scholarships from the Fund, and also large families — both with their own and adopted children — are rewarded within the Parental Record Award.
The founder of the Fund not only finds additional sources of financing but also invests his own money to support the society in which he lives. According to Wikipedia, the billionaire has invested 117 million rubles for the needs of society. Some of these funds were invested into the restoration of military monuments on the territory of Russia and the CIS countries, and some were spent on the purchase of cars for the WWII veterans.
In 2011, the film “All remains for the people” by Andrei Karaulov, devoted to the activities of Andrei Skoch’s “Generation” fund appeared on the screens.
