They are questioning three employees of the clinic where Kate Middleton was operated on

(CNN) — British media have reported that up to three staff at the clinic where Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales was treated for stomach surgery, allegedly tried to access her medical history.

Media outlets, including CNN affiliate ITV, reported that the leak did not include the medical history of King Charles, who was treated for an enlarged prostate at the same hospital. He was later diagnosed with an unknown type of cancer.

The story was first published by UK tabloid Daily Mirror.

Buckingham Palace had no comment to CNN on Thursday morning about the new information about King Charles.

CNN has contacted Kensington Palace for information on the Princess of Wales.

It is unclear whether Princess Kate's data was compromised. He spent 13 nights in hospital and was discharged in January after elective abdominal surgery. The palace did not release any other details about the procedure.

A spokesperson for The London Clinic told CNN on Thursday that it had no further comment.

On Wednesday, the clinic confirmed to CNN that an investigation is ongoing and disciplinary action will be taken. “We have no place at our hospital for those who willfully violate the trust of our patients or colleagues,” the hospital's chief executive, Al Russell, said in a statement.

Also, in a written statement to CNN on Wednesday, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent regulator for data protection and freedom of information, confirmed that it had “received a breach report and is assessing the information provided”. “

London police are not currently investigating the alleged breach. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told CNN on Wednesday that they were “not aware of any recommendations” at this time.
