They find the body of a tourist swept away by the currents of the Mamas River in Luquillo.

Divers from the United Rapid Action Force tonight recovered the body of a tourist who was swept away by the currents of the Mamas River in Luquillo while he was bathing in the Las Pilas pool on Saturday afternoon. The Bureau of Emergency Management and Disaster Management (NMEAD) confirmed this in a release on its social networks.

Florida resident Jephson Romain, 44, went missing in the water around 1:50 p.m., according to a call to 9-1-1 that alerted authorities. @PRPDNoticias’ FURA divers found the body of a missing tourist in Las Pilas, Luquillo. They worked with the Ceiba Region of NMEAD and the OMMEs of Luquillo and Ceiba. Our deepest condolences and thanks to all who responded to this emergency,” the release on the X social network said.

But in Arecibo, the municipal emergency management office rescued two tourists, residents of Chicago, who were swept away by currents off Caracols Beach in Arecibo. Both were taken to the Francisco Suzoni Hospital in Arecibo, where they received medical treatment.

With that in mind, NMEAD urged citizens earlier this week to stay away from beaches and bodies of water due to inclement weather over the weekend.
