Both have the same resolution: 2,796 x 1,290 pixels, and the same pixel density per inch: 460. And looking at specific sections, both models have the always-on screen function, which shows us very little information. Brightness, without us opening the phone or touching it to activate it.

Camera setup

Both have a very high resolution triple camera setup. The main camera is 48 megapixels with both wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses. We have System, Action Mode, Cinema Mode, Photonic Engine and Deep Fusion as the most important software functions.

Portraits in night mode, Photographic Styles section and Macro photos are available in both models. And if you want to take photos at the highest resolution, both the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro Max have Apple ProRAW format compatibility.

Looking at the video recording department, both are capable of recording up to 60 frames per second in 4K quality in Apple ProRes mode.

Also hardware and software features

As for the battery, it has up to 29 hours of autonomy, based on the hours they last played video. And if you look at the connections section, the same 5G network system is there.

We also have a crash detection mode that was introduced for the first time in the iPhone 14 generation. But apart from this, there is also the Emergency SOS function via satellite, which is already available in many countries, including Spain.

What makes them so different

Broadly speaking, they look more or less the same. But the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max have some more or less subtle features that set them apart.

The first of them is the evolution of the app. As for this year’s model, we have the first 3-nanometer architecture chip, dubbed the A17 Pro. As for the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the A16 processor is the same processor found in the iPhone 15. This year.

Both devices face outwards

In the physical section, there is an element that significantly changes the use we can give to the phone. The iPhone 14 Pro Max has a “Lifetime” tab to silence the device. On the iPhone 15 Pro Max, this switch has been replaced by a new Action button, which allows you to configure more actions beyond just silencing the device.

The construction material is excellent. On the iPhone 14 Pro Max we have a body made of stainless steel, on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, it is made of titanium. Day to day, putting on a case and while it may not be noticeable to the touch, the truth is that a lighter phone is already noticeable in the hand. From 240 grams on the 14 Pro Max, the 15 Pro Max now weighs 221 grams.

Another difference, albeit a more subtle one, is that with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, we have a smaller, but thicker phone. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is 16.07 centimeters tall, while its successor is 15.99 centimeters tall. The thickness goes from 0.78 centimeters on the 14 Pro Max to 0.83 centimeters on the 15 Pro Max.

Physical connectivity and its possibilities

If we look at these two phones, the physical connector is probably the most important section. It’s not just connectivity, it’s what we can do with it. While the iPhone 14 Pro Max has Lightning and USB 2 speeds, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has USB Type-C and USB 3 speeds.

So, not only is it compatible with all kinds of devices without the need for an adapter, the data rate is super fast, and we have additional DisplayPort capability that allows you to connect the 15 Pro Max. External monitors and displays, directly through a USB Type-C cable.

The results we will get in photos and videos

In terms of the cameras department, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has Intelligent HDR for 5 photos, while the Link 14 Pro Max has Smart HDR for 4 photos.

And looking at the video section, the iPhone 15 Pro Max features video recording in LOG and ACES encoding. Looking at the ProRes format, the 128GB iPhone 14 Pro Max has one drawback: we need external storage to unlock the maximum resolution.

In this case, this won’t be the case with the 15 Pro Max, as its base storage capacity starts at 256 GB, while the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro only has 128 GB as an entry-level option.
