A surprise suitor for LeBron — the Nuggets

Even though the Denver Nuggets have agreed on deals to re-sign their top two free agents in Nikola Jokic and Will Barton, they aren’t finished shopping, according to a report.

Chris Mannix of Yahoo Sports reports the Nuggets will now put their focus on pursuing the biggest name on the free-agent market — LeBron James.

James declined his $35.6 million player option with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, making him an unrestricted free agent for the third time in his 15-season NBA career.

The Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers are the teams mentioned most when it comes to potential landing spots for the 33-year-old three-time NBA champion and four-time Most Valuable Player.

On June 15, former Nuggets guard Earl Boykins said Denver would get a meeting with James.

  1. You can absolutely make a case for Denver and Utah. They have great talent, but it’s hard to imagine LeBron going to either state.
