Big man Biyombo picks up option to stay with Hornets

Bismack Biyombo has picked up his player option to remain with the Hornets.

Bismack Biyombo has decided to remain with the Charlotte Hornets for another season, opting to pick up his player option for the 2019-20 season worth $17 million, according to Shams Charania of Stadium.

The 26-year-old big man averaged 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in 14.5 minutes in 54 games (32 starts) this season for the Hornets, shooting 57.1 percent from the field and 63.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The seventh overall pick in the 2011 draft by the Sacramento Kings, the 6-foot-9, 255-pound Biyombo will carry career averages of 4.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots into his ninth season in the league, shooting 51.7 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from the charity stripe.
