Bulls bringing big man Sampson to training camp

JaKarr Sampson appeared in 22 games with the Kings last season.

JaKarr Sampson recently worked out for the Cleveland Cavaliers but will reportedly head to camp with the Chicago Bulls.

Sampson is a 6-foot-9 forward and Cleveland native. He attended Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary High School for part of his high-school career. He went undrafted out of St. John’s in 2014.

Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic reported the news of Sampson joining the Bulls. Earlier, Mayberry reported the Bulls are signing also signing former Xavier forward Kaiser Gates.

Sampson, 25, has spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets and most recently, the Sacramento Kings. He played 22 games for the Kings last season and averaged 4.7 points and 3.5 rebounds.

He was recently part of a group workout conducted by the Cavs. Of that group, only guard Kobi Simmons is reportedly headed to the Cavs’ training camp.
