Suns’ Booker out with toe injury

Suns standout guard Devin Booker appears likely to miss the season-opener following hand surgery.

Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker will miss Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to inflammation in his right big toe.

Booker told reporters his toe became swollen recently and that he doesn’t want the ailment to linger like it did last season.

“Last year, I tried to play through it one game and it got worse,” Booker told AZCentral.com. “I don’t want it to linger right now.”

Booker, 21, is averaging 22.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent from three.

The Suns are 7-13 on the season entering Sunday.
